The Underground Chamizal National Memorial (UCNM) is part counter-archive & part counter-memorial. The project seeks to create a permanent online memorial that honors the lives, stories, & names of the 5,600 South El Paso residents who lost their homes to the 1964 Chamizal Treaty. In turn, the UCNM seeks to bring previously untold stories about the Chamizal Treaty from the ground up: from the perspective of Chamizal residents whose experiences & perspectives have—until now—been placed at the bottom of the hierarchy of historical value.

Remapping El Chamizal is a digital countermap built using ArcGIS Pro & ArcGIS StoryMaps. The project seeks to reinsert & make legible El Chamizal's contested & invisibilized stories with the goal of remembering & recovering some of the Chamizal spaces and places lost, struggled for, & defended.
